Garden Club of America

GCA provides amazing opportunities on a national scale for 18,000 members in 12 zones and 200 + clubs around the country.  The purpose of The Garden Club of America is to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence, and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.  Interdependence of horticulture, environmental protection, and community improvement are GCA’s focus. 

The GCA offers outstanding garden trips around the world including visits to US private gardens of our own members.  The GCA works on significant federal legislation that has long-term effects for the nation with  the annual National Affairs and Legislation, NAL, Conference.  The annual Shirley Meinice Conference in different cities around the country focuses on  horticulture.  Every year GCA offers a Floral Design Study Group and a Photography Study Group in different locations.

Magazines published by GCA include The Bulletin, By Design for floral design, Conservation Watch, Focus for photography, Real Dirt for horticulture, and monthly enews.

GCA gives significant educational scholarships to students. $50,000 in GCA Founders Fund grants are given annually to worthy community projects.  Lectures are offered frequetly at GCA headquarters in NYC. The level of commitment, intelligence and devotion to issues of the natural world are evident in the Garden Club of America.
