We love to visit public gardens and like to share some of the local “secret” spots to view gardens all around the Seacoast.  Below is a listing of the gardens we enjoy.  If you have others that we could add to this list, please contact us!

Bedrock Gardens. Lee, NH.  Extensive property with exquisite gardens and landscaping, sculpture, garden houses, stream, bridges, amazing walks and world-wide specimens.

Celia Thaxter Garden on Isles of Shoals by appointment only since a boat takes you there.  An all day excursion ($100) to Appledore Island via a research vessel from the US Coast Guard Station in New Castle, NH.

Fuller Gardens, 10 Willow St., N. Hampton, NH manicured rose garden and sunken garden from an estate

Governor John Langdon House, 143 Pleasant St. Portsmouth, NH ,beautiful backyard garden

Hamilton House, 40 Vaughan La. South Berwick, ME, colonial revival country estate on the shores of the Salmon Falls River with estate grounds, gardens and trails.

John Paul Jones House, 43 Middle St., Portsmouth, NH , backyard garden on corner of Middle and State St.

Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden, 154 Market St. Portsmouth, NH. The best historic colonial home and most beautiful gardens with 250 year old roses and plants.

Steedman Woods,  York, Maine,  a nature reserve with walks and trails on 17 acres between Old York and York Harbor, Point Bolleyne, forever wild.

Strawbery Banke, Portsmouth, NH a museum of architecture through the years and several historic gardens -children’s garden, victory garden, lilac garden, world herb garden.

Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Rd., Portsmouth, NH, 182 acres of trails, and demonstration gardens.
